Maundy Thursday

“Maundy” is derived from the Latin word “mandatum”, meaning “commandment”, and refers to the words of our Lord in John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

On the night before Good Friday, the Church brings to mind the great love of our Lord for us, and that great love which we are to emulate towards one another.

A special service of Divine Worship will be followed by the stripping of the altar and a vigil at the side chapel.
