06 November 2022: Pentecost 22

‘I am the resurrection and the life,’ says the Lord. ’Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’
— John 11:25-26

COLLECT: God of all the living, in the resurrection of Christ Jesus you have given us the promise of life which death itself cannot destroy: in the strength of this unshakeable promise, give us a new heart to live, even now, as you new creation.  We ask this through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

A Prayer for Ukraine

God of peace and justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons. We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow, that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them. We pray for those with power over war or peace, for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions. Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them. We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.  Amen

Archbishop Stephen Cottrell: Archbishop of York.
