O God,
who for our redemption gave your only-begotten Son
to suffer death upon a cross,
and by his glorious resurrection
delivered us from the power of the enemy:
grant us so to die daily to sin
that we may evermore live with him
in the joy of his resurrection;
through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Mission and Outreach
Rectory Fundraising envelopes are now in circulation. Almost there!
Meals for Woody Point Special School are starting again. Please label your meal with title, ingredients and date cooked, then freeze it, and bring it to church on Sunday. Meal containers are on the back table. Alternatively, give a monetary donation or supermarket gift card. For more information on both of these ministries, contact Elizabeth on 0404 080 861.
Please pray for the next season of mission and outreach. Please pray for the Parish Council and other lay leaders in our church who are discerning where God is leading us to serve our community. Please also pray for the Floral Festival, that God may use it for his glory.

Prayer Space with Leisa
As part of our parish outreach, let us pray for the children, families, staff and chaplain of Woody Point Special School, giving thanks for their place in our parish and asking God’s blessing upon them.
Loving God,
We give thanks for the children, families, and staff of Woody Point Special School.
Bless the students as they learn, grow, and discover their unique gifts. Grant them confidence, joy, and the support they need to flourish.
We pray for parents, carers, and families. Strengthen them in their daily responsibilities, surround them with your love, and grant them patience, encouragement, and hope.
We give thanks for the teachers, aides, therapists, and all who serve within the school community. Bless them with wisdom, compassion, and renewed strength as they nurture and support the children in their care.
We pray especially for the school chaplain known as Chappy Steve. Bless and sustain him in his ministry, and may he be a source of comfort, encouragement, and spiritual care to students, families, and staff alike.
May all who are part of Woody Point Special School know that they are valued, cherished, and deeply loved. Help us, as a parish community, to be faithful in our outreach and support, sharing Christ’s love through our words and actions.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Article 19: Of The Church
The visible Church of Christ is a congregation of faithful men, in the which the pure Word of God is preached, and the Sacraments be duly ministered according to Christ's ordinance in all those things that of necessity are requisite to the same.
As the Church of Jerusalem, Alexandria, and Antioch, have erred; so also the Church of Rome hath erred, not only in their living and manner of Ceremonies, but also in matters of Faith.
Fresh from the Floral Festival we pick up again our study through the 39 Articles with the question: what is the Church? And our spiritual forebears answer: who is the Church! Their answer does not point out any one denomination as being “the Church”; indeed, they point to those denominations who would claim to be the only Church, and say that they are wrong in their conclusion.
We must acknowledge that trying to define who is “in” and who is “out” when it comes to the Church is a dangerous game to play, and this Article was written just as that question was spilling out into an era of horrific violence over who had the correct answer. But I think today’s Article gets it just right: the Church is wherever faithful people are gathered together; the “pure Word of God is preached”; and the Sacraments are faithfully adminstered according to that same Word. There is nothing about tradition, or language, or geography, or genetic heritage. It is about God the Holy Spirit, the incarnate Lord Jesus whom that Spirit reveals, and the people who have responded by faith to the call of the Spirit.
There is a challenge then for all of us. Am I, as your priest, preaching the pure Word of God? It is an easy temptation for the preacher to stray from the bounds of the text and climb onto my hobby horse. Are we participating in the Sacraments, duly ministered according to Christ's ordinance? Today’s Article joins Word and Sacrament, and sets them as the reason why faithful people “congregate”. This is the “visible Church of Christ”, of which we are members: faithful people who congregate, to preach and to hear the pure Word, and participate in the Sacraments. How’s that for a Parish Statement?
