Mission and Outreach
Meals for Woody Point Special School are on again. Please label your meal with title, ingredients and date cooked, then freeze it, and bring it to church on Sunday. Meal containers are on the back table. Alternatively, give a monetary donation or supermarket gift card. For more information on both of these ministries, contact Elizabeth on 0404 080 861.
Thank you to everyone in the parish who attended in person or in spirit with your prayers and insight to the Spirited Generosity morning. May our Parish be filled with the Holy Spirit and his grace to fulfil his call to us. Mother’s Union: 19th August at Sea Salt and Vine, Scarborough, 11:30am
Thursday Fellowship: every first and third Thursday from 9:30am to 11:30am. All welcome for a cuppa and a chat. Bring your craft to work on or just enjoy the company.
Caring and Sharing: every fourth Wednesday after Holy Communion. This week! Bring your friends!
Talent Table: after many years of faithful service, the Ladies Guild will be redirecting their efforts. Talent Table is now on indefinite leave. We give thanks to God for all the work the Guild has done in supporting our Parish and pray for his blessing on them.
Bible Study: Tuesdays at 9am and Thursdays at 7pm. All welcome; all materials supplied. New Study begins next week: 1 Samuel.
Beaumont Aged Care: Holy Communion every third Friday at 10:30am.

Mother’s Union Annual Collection
Sunday, 9 August the Mother’s Union will be collecting funds in support of Anglicare. Recently we have been providing a space for Anglicare’s new Staying On Track initiative. Read on for more information on the work they do:
Staying on Track (SoT) What is Staying on Track?
Staying on Track is a 12-month program designed to help young people aged 10-17 years transition from detention back into the community, aiming to reduce reoffending. It provides tailored, intensive support, including mentoring, education, housing assistance, and therapy, starting in detention and continuing for 6-12 months post release. The rehabilitation model focuses on creating a stable, positive environment, strengthening family connections, and addressing the systemic barriers that are driving offending behaviour to create a pathway to education and employment over the year after release.
Where is the program delivered?
Anglicare Southern Queensland provides the Staying on Track program in the following locations:

Prayer Space with Leisa
Over the past two Sundays, I have provided you with a simple morning and evening prayer. Our faith, however, is lived not only in the morning and evening, but in the moments between. May this prayer help you remain attentive to God’s presence and open to the quiet prompting of his Holy Spirit through the day. Prayer is not simply something we do: it is a way of walking with God. May these three prayers help you find a daily rhythm or beginning with him, listening for him, and ending the day in the assurance of his love and peace.
Loving God,
In the busyness of this day, help me to pause and remember that you are with me.
Quiet the noise around me and the worries within me, so that I may hear your gentle voice above all else. Teach me to listen not only with my ears, but with an open heart that is willing to follow where you lead.
Open my eyes to recognize your presence in the ordinary moment of today - in a kind word, a helping hand, a moment of stillness, or an unexpected opportunity to share your love.
When I am faced with decisions, grant me wisdom. When I am impatient, grant me grace. When I become distracted, gently draw me back to you.
May your Holy Spirit guide my thoughts, shape my words, and direct my steps, so that my life may reflect the love of Christ in all that I do.
Help me to listen before I speak, to pray before I act, and to trust before I worry. May I never become so busy that I fail to hear your call or overlook the people you place in my path.
As I go about this day, may I walk closely with you, following your will with faith, humility and joy.

Article 21: Of The Authority Of General Councils
General Councils may not be gathered together without the commandment and will of Princes. And when they be gathered together, (forasmuch as they be an assembly of men, whereof all be not governed with the Spirit and Word of God), they may err, and sometimes have erred, even in things pertaining unto God. Wherefore things ordained by them as necessary to salvation have neither strength nor authority, unless it may be declared that they be taken out of holy Scripture.
Whenever I move to minister in a new area, I will spend a bit of time looking up the other churches in the area. Something I find a little humorous (which I think only clergy could chuckle at) is how so many denominations will write their own Statement of Belief. Reading through them, you can usually see they line up exactly with the ancient and universal Creeds we recite as Anglicans: the Apostle’s, Nicene, and Athanasian. What today’s Article reminds us, is that those Creeds (an indeed any Statement of Belief) “have neither strength nor authority, unless it may be declared (or proved) that they be taken out of holy Scripture”. Again, we are reminded that Scripture is our highest authority. Not our only authority - but our highest. And so, when we recite the Creeds, we rejoice, because they take the whole sweep of God’s self-revelation in the Bible, and condense them down into an easily-memorised passage. And we also rejoice because they were written by the whole Church - the truths therein bind us, who are many, as one body, in the truth of God as revealed in Jesus Christ.
