Almighty God,
whose beloved Son for our sake
willingly endure the agony and shame of the cross:
give us courage and patience
to take up our cross daily and follow him;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever.
Amen.

Mother’s Union Annual Collection
Sunday, 9 August the Mother’s Union will be collecting funds in support of Anglicare. Recently we have been providing a space for Anglicare’s new Staying On Track initiative. Read on for more information on the work they do:
Staying on Track (SoT) What is Staying on Track?
Staying on Track is a 12-month program designed to help young people aged 10-17 years transition from detention back into the community, aiming to reduce reoffending. It provides tailored, intensive support, including mentoring, education, housing assistance, and therapy, starting in detention and continuing for 6-12 months post release. The rehabilitation model focuses on creating a stable, positive environment, strengthening family connections, and addressing the systemic barriers that are driving offending behaviour to create a pathway to education and employment over the year after release.
Where is the program delivered?
Anglicare Southern Queensland provides the Staying on Track program in the following locations:
. Brisbane North / Redcliffe / Caboolture
. Brisbane South / Redlands
. Ipswich / Western Districts
. Sunshine Coast
. Toowoomba / Roma
Prayer Space with Leisa
Let us give thanks for the faithful ministry of the Mothers’ Union at St Peter the Fisherman and pray for God’s continued blessing upon its members.
Loving and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the faithful ministry of our Mothers’ Union at St Peter the Fisherman. We thank you for each member and for their commitment to prayer, fellowship, and Christian service. Bless them as they seek to strengthen family life, encourage one another in faith, and reach out with compassion to those in need.
Guide them by your Holy Spirit in all that they do. May their meetings be filled with joy, their friendships be a source of encouragement, and their prayers bring comfort, hope, and strength to many. Continue to inspire them with new opportunities to serve, to welcome others with open hearts, and to be a living witness to the love of Christ within out parish and the wider community.
All this we ask in the precious name of Jesus.
Amen
A Reflection On Baptism
Today we celebrate the sacrament of Baptism, one of the two “Gospel” sacraments, so-called because of two reasons: it is recorded in the Gospels as something our Lord has commanded us to do; and because it points to the gospel message of the Lord Jesus Christ. The way baptism points to the gospel message is because it so closely follows what our Lord did during his time on this earth. He was born in a human body; he went into the waters of the death; and he came back out again to live for ever. In the same way, we go down into the waters of death in our own baptism, and rise to everlasting life in Christ Jesus. And we remember the promise of Scripture that “...we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10) As baptised Christians, we are God’s workmanship, remade and reborn, so that we can step into a life of all the good works God has prepared for us to do. And while this may, at times, seem a fearful burden to carry, we remember that in all things, God’s grace goes before us and sustains us. So, recall to mind your own baptism, and the promises of God that are fulfilled in you as you go out into the world this week.
