Defence Forces Sunday
Collect of the week
Blessed Lord,
you have caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning:
grant that we may so hear them, read, mark, learn and inwardly digest them,
that, by patience and the comfort of your holy word,
we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life,
which you have given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Mission and Outreach
Woody Point Special School has been discerned as a focus for our new season of mission and outreach. The yellow lid bins at the back of the church are waiting for your extra groceries to donate to their pantry. Meals which are labelled with date and ingredients, packaged and frozen can be put in the church freezer for collection. For more information, contact Elizabeth on 0404 080 861, or Leisa.
Spirited Generosity is an ongoing initiative in our parish. Please check the back table for information on our next steps. If anything has been raised in your spirit as a result, please continue the conversation with fellow parishioners, parish councillors, wardens, and Fr Ted.
We ask of your goodness, Lord, to comfort and sustain all who in this transitory life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity, and especially Shirley and Alan Kimber, Rosina, Ann, Barbara, Ian, Chris, Jeff Byrne, Karne, Greg, Aaron, Joanne, Grace and Faith, Fr David, Nina, Sophie, Lesley, Helena, Claire, Wayne, Janice, Carol, Shakiraia, Kristy, Martina, John, Fran, Lois, and Beryl Old. Mother’s Union Bits and Bobs
Mother’s Union members and supporters are warmly invited to the Christmas breakup party on Wednesday, November 18, 11:30am, at Sea Salt and Vine. Please also be advised that 2027 subs are due. The Parish branch is covering the increased costs so that you do not – they remain $40 for singles and $70 for couples.
Remembrance Day
This Wednesday is Remembrance Day. We will have the usual 10am service of Holy Communion in the side chapel, which usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes. Following this, there will be a short liturgy outside, with a recital of the Ode and the playing of the Last Post and Reveille, with the minutes silence at 11am, and a ringing of the church bell. You are most welcome to attend and support the important role the Church plays in this international observance.
The ANZAC Day collect is suitable for Remembrance Day:
O God, our ruler and guide,
in whose hands are the destinies of this and every nation,
we give you thanks for the freedoms we enjoy in this land
and for those who laid down their lives to defend them:
We pray that we and all the people of Australia,
gratefully remembering their courage and their sacrifice,
may have grace to live in a spirit of justice,
of generosity and of peace;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
BCA Boxes
Thank you to all who generously gave to the BCA. The results are in, and we are happy to announce that our parish has raised $303.70 for this important ministry! Bless you all for your generosity.
Caring and Sharing Christmas Party
‘Tis the month for Christmas parties – Caring and Sharing will be putting on an extravaganza this month on Wednesday, November 25, straight after the 10am Holy Communion service. It promises to be a spectacular event – be sure not to miss out!
Bright ‘N’ Sparks Choral Concert
On Saturday, November 14, consider joining the Brisbane North Dementia Choir, also known as Bright ‘N’ Sparks, for a spectacular morning of music at the Brighton Health Campus Auditorium, Beaconsfield Tce. These talented choir members will be performing a variety of songs that will surely brighten your day and spark joy in your heart. The performance, which is free with a suggested donation to cover the costs of the choir, will be followed by complimentary tea, coffee and morning tea.
Christmas Market Stall
The annual Bunnings Christmas Market Stall is on again this year, Thursday 3 December 5:30-7:30pm. Do consider what homemade fares and craft you might contribute to help this important moment in the life of your parish.
2027 Calendar and Lectionary Orders
Orders are now being taken for 2027 Anglican Church calendars. Each month showcases an Anglican church from somewhere in Australia with a beautiful photo.
Orders are also being taken for Lectionaries for next year. Have you planned your Bible reading for next year? Why not read along with the Church? The Lectionary contains all the information you need to read the whole Bible cover-to-cover every three years in a structured manner and is used by Anglican, Roman Catholic, and several other denominations. Our Anglican version is chock full of helpful information, including readings for Morning and Evening Prayer, Holy Communion, and special Feasts and Festivals, and all the important dates, like Christmas, Easter, and Quinquagesima.
We intend on placing a bulk order before the end of the year. If you would like to order yours along with us, please see one of the Wardens or Fr Ted – there is an order sheet in the church.
Parish AGM 2027
It’s time to start thinking about our next AGM. Please mark in your diary a couple of dates: February 7, 2027 after Holy Communion will be the meeting itself. Reports due Sunday, January 3, 2027. Please ensure your report is submitted digitally. This is to ensure the printing process, which is worked out through the local Council office, goes smoothly. If you would like help with this please ask Fr Ted or one of your wardens.
A Wedding – You’re Invited!
At 10am on Saturday, December 12, this parish will host the marriage ceremony of Tommy and Taylor. Bride and Groom would like to invite everyone from the parish to join them for the joyful occasion.
If you would like to help spruce up the joint and make the church look its best for our guests, please speak to one of your wardens or Fr Ted.
Prayer Space with Leisa
This week, I share the Prayer of Commemoration for the Fallen, published by the Church of England. A reminder that although the years may pass, their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Lest We Forget.
Commemoration for the fallen
Father of all, remember your holy promise,
and look with love on all your people, living and departed.
On this day we especially ask that you would hold forever
all who have suffered during war, those who returned scarred by warfare,
those who waited anxiously at home,
and those who returned wounded, and disillusioned;
those who mourned, and those communities that were diminished and suffered loss.
Remember too those who acted with kindly compassion,
those who bravely risked their own lives for their comrades,
and those who in the aftermath of war, worked tirelessly for a more peaceful world.
And as you remember them, remember us, O Lord;
grant us peace in our time and a longing for the day when people of every language, race, and nation
will be brought into the unity of Christ’s kingdom.
This we ask in the name of the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Beyond The Pew
Faith. Life. Questions. Conversation.
Beyond The Pew is the beginning of a new parish ministry seeking your prayers and engagement. Beyond the Pew is a relaxed space for conversation about faith and life. Each gathering begins with one question. There are no prepared answers and no pressure to speak — just an opportunity to listen, share, pray and discover something from one another.
You may like to try this out with your church friends. Just ask the question, and see where the conversation goes!
Last week’s question: Think of someone who made your life better. Who do you wish to influence in a similar way?
This week’s question: What would you like the next generation to know about faith?
Make Room – An Advent Journey
This Advent, our Beyond the Pew ministry invites you to join us on a special journey towards Christmas with “Make Room – An Advent Journey.” Together, we will count down the 25 days to Christmas with 25 little prayers, each offering a moment to stop, reflect and make room for Jesus in our hearts. Our specially designed Advent prayer calendar is laminated and has a magnet so you can place it on your fridge, ready for a little daily prayer and reflection from 1 December through to Christmas Day. But this journey is not just for those who gather with us on Sundays. We encourage you to take an extra calendar and share it with someone who may no longer be able to attend church, a neighbour, a friend or someone in our wider community. What a beautiful way to remind others that they are still part of our church family and that God's love reaches far beyond our pews. Let's journey together this Advent, one day, one prayer and one step closer to Christmas.
25 days. 25 little prayers. One journey towards Jesus.
